We wake up thinking about cars. We go to sleep thinking about cars. Last week, Jason Ferreri, senior vice president of sales, woke up with an idea to take advantage of the summer weather and our passion for collector cars—a “pop up” car show at the ADESA headquarters. When I received his email invitation, I knew I’d be home that evening polishing up my 1971 Pontiac Trans Am 4-speed 455 HO for our impromptu “Bring Your Car to Work Day.”
On Friday morning, a caravan of classics showed up on the roof of the parking garage for everyone to enjoy. Several of these cars have great stories behind them. Don Gottwald, CEO of AFC, brought his completely original 1970 Ford Torino dubbed “Orange Crush”, which was selected as Motor Trend magazine’s 1970 “Car of the Year.” We also enjoyed the poppy red 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang that Don Davis, director of KAR enterprise optimization, brought down, which features a three-speed stick and an immaculate white steering wheel.
I really enjoyed seeing so many employees discover our impromptu car show and stop by the parking deck throughout the day to appreciate this impressive collection of cars. I hope you enjoy the photos below. A big thank you to Jason for coordinating the effort and reminding us why we do what we do. It’s truly an honor to work with colleagues that share the same passion for automobiles, both in and out of the office.
