As a collector car enthusiast, attending Barrett-Jackson events is a real treat for me. I recently visited the inaugural Hot August Nights Barrett-Jackson Reno Tahoe auction, a new destination for the famous celebration. I personally love ‘hot rods.’ And, hundreds of them filled the streets. Being surrounded by so many custom hot rods at Hot August Nights–a change from the plethora of true classics and antiques seen at other Barrett-Jackson auctions–made this an unforgettable experience.
The atmosphere at the new location in Reno-Tahoe, Nevada, was lively and positive. An energetic crowd flowed through the city, and everyone seemed to enjoy the sights and sounds of this unique weekend. The opening night Gala was the best I have ever attended. The night was packed until the doors closed, pumping all night with great music and outstanding food.
This year’s Hot August Nights was the largest collection in one place I–or anyone–had ever seen. It was obvious how much thought and detail was put into the layout and ensuring attendees had a great time. One of the best aspects about the Barrett-Jackson series is the focus on charity–and Reno was no exception. Also, it was a pleasure to visit with former racecar driver Bob Bondurant and see his involvement throughout the event. Overall, Barrett-Jackson’s Hot August Nights has found an ideal home with choosing Reno-Tahoe.
While the hot rods were plentiful, my favorite car was the 1969 blue Ford Mustang GT 428 SCJ Fastback – an extremely rare GT Super Cobra Jet Mustang and all-around beautiful car. Like every Barrett-Jackson event I’ve attended, I had a blast taking photos of some more of my favorite cars crossing the block.
