Each year, women executives and leaders from ADESA and the automotive remarketing industry come together for the annual Women of Remarketing (WOR) conference. This year, the 11th annual conference went back to the roots of our industry, Detroit, to network, delve into important topics in our industry and experience “the Motor City.”

Hosted at the beautiful Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, my colleagues, Nicole Brown, Summer Ernsberger and Debbie Vaughn, creator of the WOR conference, and I took time to discuss the state of the remarketing industry and share the latest technology and business updates from ADESA.

Before the conference, the group read Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sanberg, former chief operating officer for Facebook. While discussing the book together at the event, we found it to be a valuable book for women in business that inspires us as leaders to go after our goals with ambition and confidence. And, interactive group exercises and a roundtable discussion provided excellent platforms to talk about issues and best practices.

This event is always full of unique experiences, and this year was no exception. We took full advantage of Detroit’s rich automotive history and headed to Chrysler headquarters for a test drive event. I’m the first one to take on new driving experiences, and taking the Fiat 500C Abarth around the winding closed course was an absolute blast. Check out my ride in the video below. We also headed to the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, where we got a closer look at a state-of-the-art Ford F-150 assembly plant.

Today, the WOR conference is the only networking and professional development event exclusively for women in the industry. We’re proud to host this annual initiative that brings us together and look forward to creating more relationships and memories at next year’s conference.
