Last week, more than 4,000 cars and 16 lanes greeted competitors, attendees and judges as they entered ADESA Boston for the 2014 World Automobile Auctioneers Championship (WAAC). The event was webcast live from ADESA Boston on niada.tv.
Each year, the world’s best auto auctioneers, ring people and teams gather from around the globe to compete and win the coveted title of “World Champion.” ADESA Boston had the privilege of hosting the WAAC this year, and I was honored to serve as a judge at this great event in my hometown.
There are three categories: World Champion Automobile Auctioneer, World Champion Automobile Ringman and World Champion Team. The 2014 winners were:
- World Champion Automobile Auctioneer: Ben Debruhl
- World Champion Team: TJ Frejie and Bobby McAdams
- World Champion Ringman: Phillip Gee III
Mike Lambert, the 1989 World Champion Auto Auctioneer and winner of the first WAAC, was on hand to congratulate the winners as this year’s honored guest.
I’d like to extend special congratulations to the World Championship Team, TJ Frejie and Bobby McAdams. They often work for Dave Emerson, general manager of ADESA Indianapolis, who sponsored the team to attend the WAAC.
Serving as a judge with some of the top names in the auto auction industry and auctioneer profession made the event even more memorable. And I also had the pleasure of sitting on the panel with my colleagues Paul Lips, EVP of operations and finance of ADESA, and Neill Waters, VP of marketing and business development of AFC.
My congratulations and respect extends to everyone who participated in this amazing event. And a big thank you goes out to ADESA Boston for being such a wonderful host. Our industry is filled with incredibly talented individuals who are passionate about what they do, and it was an honor to witness that talent and passion firsthand.
