For ADESA and our partners, NADA Show 2018 turned out to be a rousing success.

Our team enjoyed sharing unique industry insight and knowledge, networking with attendees and giving them a taste of our newest offerings.

Our annual charity auction has been an NADA staple for seven consecutive years, and 2018 was no different. At the event, we auctioned off a beautiful 2017 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL1200CX on behalf of the NADA Foundation and Canine Companions for Independence (CCI)—which provides assistance dogs free of charge to veterans, children and adults with disabilities.

To kick off the charity auction, I made a few opening remarks and welcomed several special guests in attendance from ADESA and NADA.

I also had the great honor and privilege of introducing Jay Huston, a U.S. Army veteran who served for two decades and was wounded during an airborne operation. With his assistance dog Hurley beside him, Jay detailed how CCI changed his life and gave back his independence, inspiring and encouraging attendees to open their hearts and wallets.

After a heart-pounding back-and-forth between several incredibly generous attendees, Joe Verde came out on top with a winning bid of $25,000. Joe has been one of the charity auction’s most generous and outspoken supporters and has placed a winning bid several times over the past seven years.

Instead of accepting his prize at close, Joe put the motorcycle back up for re-auction in an effort to raise even more money for NADA Foundation and CCI. So, during the second round, Tony Bacily of STG Auto Group placed the final winning bid of $25,000—bringing the total amount raised to $50,000.

In addition, charity auction attendees generously donated an additional $2,000 during the event, bringing the grand total from the charity auction at NADA Show 2018 to $52,000.

To date, through seven years of running the charity auction at NADA, ADESA has raised nearly $400,000 on behalf of NADA Foundation and supported charities like CCI.

We want to thank everyone who attended the event and supported this worthwhile cause.
