During the past year, ADESA Winnipeg has made an outstanding focus on their philanthropic efforts. With the support of Gregg Maidment, senior vice president, Western Canada and general manager of ADESA Winnipeg, the auction location has actively supported charities in Manitoba since it opened almost 30 years ago.

In addition to a record number of charity auctions, ADESA Winnipeg also launched an exciting new initiative, the Community Referral Program. This new initiative allows any organization, be it a sports team, church group, charity, school or club, to sign up and refer vehicles to ADESA’s public consignment program. For each vehicle consigned and sold, the community group receives a referral fee for their organization.

Throughout the year, ADESA Winnipeg’s auctioneers and staff have been working tirelessly to support as many charitable causes as possible, often participating in multiple charity events per week (and a few times, multiple events per evening). The team donated their time and auctioneering experience to well over 50 charitable events, serving as auctioneers and MCs for events, raising more than $3 million this year for the following organizations:

  • Ducks Unlimited
  • The Rainbow Society
  • The Dream Factory
  • Variety the Children’s Charity
  • JDRF
  • Winnipeg Jets Charitable Foundation
  • Canadian Cancer Society
  • The ALS Society
  • Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation
  • United Way
  • The Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation
  •  And many, many more.

This year, ADESA Winnipeg also continued in its long-standing support of Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba, with both the 25th Annual Golden Gavel Golf Tournament and Charity Auction and the Variety’s Bids for Kids Charity Auctions program.

The 25th Golden Gavel raised more than $150,000 in support of children of all abilities. And the Variety’s Bids for Kids Charity Auctions, a car donation program partnership between ADESA Winnipeg and Variety, continues to raises funds throughout the year. Some unique auctions in 2013 benefitting Variety included a 1949 Packard Super Deluxe 8 and an Abbott 22 Sailboat.

We’re pleased that the auto auction industry can help support local communities in many different ways.
