This week, the National Auto Auction Association celebrates its annual National Auto Auction Week from August 18 – 22, 2014. It’s a special time when we recognize the customers, employees, family members and friends who have played such an important role in supporting our industry’s efforts.
Members of NAAA have an incredible impact on North America’s economy. In 2013 alone, the NAAA reported that its members sold 8.2 million vehicles worth $75.7 billion. This considerable economic activity is felt not just at a national level, but also within each local community where an auction is located.
In honor of this occasion, I want to extend my gratitude to ADESA’s Jack Neshe, who is currently serving as NAAA president. He is one of the industry’s most passionate supporters, and I can’t wait to thank him for his service at next month’s NAAA annual convention in Boston.
For the past three years, we’ve challenged our team members at ADESA to recognize National Auto Auction Week in new and creative ways. Last year, we asked each of our more than 60 auction locations to head out into their communities and take photos with a location, charity or local landmark while proudly displaying an “I Love Auto Auctions” sign. The response from our auctions was overwhelming, and we received dozens upon dozens of photos.
This year, we’re asking team members from each of our auctions to sport a “Car Dealers Rock” t-shirt and visit some of their customers. Look for lots of fun and creative photos to be posted on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
We’re proud to support NAAA and this great week. It’s the perfect time to recognize our communities, our people and our peers, and how we all work together to move the auto auction industry forward.
