ADESA and others in the KAR group of companies were well represented at the NAAA Convention/National Remarketing Conference during Used Car Week 2016. This event was four great days of sharing insights, learning industry news and networking. Familiar names filled the agenda of panelists and speakers, as well as award recipients.

Here’s a recap of the week:

2016 Pioneer Award

ADESA EVP of Sales, Marketing and Special Services Bob Rauschenberg is a big name in the industry. Earlier this year, Bob was honored with IARA’s Circle of Excellence, the group’s lifetime achievement award. On Wednesday of UCW, Bob was named as the winner of the 2016 Pioneer Award from the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA).

NAAA presents this award to individuals who have improved services, championed member auctions and upheld the group’s ethical standards.

We congratulate Bob on this impressive and well-deserved honor.

NAAA President

We also congratulate Jerry Hinton, general manager of ADESA Portland, as he takes on the role of president for NAAA.

Warren Young Fellows

Rich Levene and James Walker were named as Warren Young Fellows, an honor presented by NAAA in recognition of major contributions to the organization. James and Rich have been valued members of NAAA’s safety committee and have worked with NAAA to bring Safe T. Sam training to all member auctions. James is senior director of environmental, health and safety for KAR. Rich is currently general manager of ADESA Austin and oversaw the Safe T. Sam program while serving as VP of enterprise optimization for KAR.

2016 NAAA Auto Auction of the Year

In its inaugural year, the Auto Auction of the Year award from NAAA recognized excellence in community service. One auction from each regional chapter was honored, as was one overall winner. ADESA Winnipeg was named the regional winner for the Eastern Chapter.

Chase Cup for Auction Excellence

Chase Auto Finance recognized its top performing auctions with Chase Cup awards at Used Car Week. ADESA Kansas City won the Douglas F. Wininger Memorial Award for Best National Performance Service Delivery, an award that recognizes outstanding service in measurable areas such as transportation management, sales, invoicing and other operational measures. ADESA Kansas City also earned Best Regional Performance, Central.

Women in Remarketing

Sheryl Watson, general counsel for ADESA Canada, and Debbie Stokes, national remarketing manager for PAR North America, were among the 2016 class of Women in Remarketing honorees who spoke at Used Car Week.
