With 65 ADESA auction locations across North America, there are many fantastic people that work in our organization. Their contributions cover a wide variety of skill sets, and some become a part of ADESA in unique ways. This is especially true for ADESA Dallas employee, Bill Roberts, who recently retired from ADESA Dallas.

Bill became a part of ADESA Dallas 17 years ago when ADESA acquired Dallas Auto Auction in 1996. As many will attest, Bill was a great team member to work with. His experience, wit and passion for the auto auction industry inspired his co-workers and customers alike. As Bill prepared to retire from his career at ADESA Dallas, those who knew him best joined together to celebrate his achievements and thank him for his years of service and commitment.

This very special retirement party included a number of ADESA executives, customers and auction staff members.

Bill was presented with a bench built by his coworker, John Shaffer, to commemorate the event. Covered in well-wishes and farewell messages, Bill now has a place to wind away the hours as he relaxes during his retirement. He also received a painting done by another coworker, Maria Cantu, as a keepsake. A special video compilation with employees sharing their favorite memories with Bill was also shared with the group.

In another effort to make sure Bill knew his contributions to ADESA Dallas would not be forgotten, the auction created the Bill Roberts Annual Outstanding Service Award. This auction prides itself on providing the highest level of customer service. In fact, it’s what dealers say keeps them coming back to the auction week after week. This award pays tribute to those who ensure that ADESA Dallas continues to offer its customers the highest level of service. This year’s inaugural award was presented to Tonia Cummins, customer service van driver.

Ken Osborn, ADESA Dallas general manager; Karl King, employee maintenance manager; and Reshard Taylor, PAR representative, wrote and performed a song called “Charming Bill’s Blues.” They also sang “Ain’t No Sunshine When Bill’s Gone” and “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
