More than 100 KAR employees signed up to compete or to volunteer in the 2016 ISC Corporate Challenge. This is the second consecutive year that our team has participated in this two-day event sponsored by the Indiana Sports Corp.

In 2015, nearly 8,000 competitors representing 160 companies participated in everything from volleyball and bowling to running and parallel parking. The ISC Corporate Challenge brings teams from major companies across Central Indiana together for fun and friendly competition. It promotes company camaraderie and emphasizes healthy lifestyles—and the winner takes home the traveling trophy.

The heavy rainstorms delayed and washed out a few of the sporting events—but they couldn’t dampen the teams’ spirits. Team KAR participated in a variety of events, from cycling at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and sand volleyball, to cornhole and bowling. And we took home seventh place in bowling with 76 team points.

Team KAR also represented in the running events, including the 10K team run, 5K and the half-mile event. We took part in the 5K fitness walk and dodgeball—a brand-new Corporate Challenge event—and finished in the top half of our division on the second day of the activities.

Along with the Corporate Challenge events, each company also participated in Compassion Events by providing donations for several great causes. Everyone was glad this year’s Compassion Event—the MINI Challenge—wasn’t cancelled due to the rain. Three drivers from each company had the chance to put a MINI Cooper through its paces on an obstacle course.

KAR employees had to earn one of these coveted spots by: participating or volunteering at Corporate Challenge, donating blood earlier in the month, donating used sports gear to ISC’s Geared for Health program, or making a monetary donation to the Susan Williams CHAMPS grant program, which provides opportunities for young people to take part in sports and fitness activities. Congrats to our three drivers: Dennis Honcharuk, Kelsey Minier and Tim Lenker.

No one at the ISC Corporate Challenge could miss our KAR team members—who sported “construction cone” orange shirts. The winning design—with tire tracks to represent our industry and our speed—was a collaboration of the ADESA marketing department, with design by Nicole Couch.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and competitors for representing Team KAR and embodying great sportsmanship.
